Welcome to the OFFICIAL Wiki for the Northern Virginia Girl Geek Dinners
Girl Geek : Someone who is female and has an interest in technology, particularly computing and new media. Not necessarily technically minded.
The Girl Geek Dinners are organised all over the world. They are great fun and provide a welcoming atmosphere for women to talk about technology in an informal environment. There is generally a speaker who talks for a short while on a chosen subject for the event.
Northern Virginia Girl Geek Dinners (coordinated and organized by Jessica Moss and GeekyCyberMom (Naomi W.) is for ALL girl geeks in the MD/DC/VA tri-state area. We are an offshoot of the London Girl Geek Dinners, started by Sarah Blow. The aim of these get-togethers is to provide a welcoming atmosphere and a platform for learning in an informal environment, to make technology accessible and to be of interest to all age groups and all people, particularly women. It is an opportunity for like-minded ‘girls’ to talk about technology over food and drinks
